Federal Science Award in 2022 for the field of Technical Sciences

At the ceremony, which was held on December 12, 2022, in Mostar on Science Day in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I was awarded the Federal Annual Award for science for a significant scientific achievement in the field of technical science through a series of scientific works that form a whole and contribute to the expansion of existing scientific knowledge in the field of chemical engineering, synthesis and optimization of heat-integrated water networks and integration of water and energy in technological processes.

I am especially glad that this year, as well as last year, the Federal Award is coming to the Tuzla Canton, the University of Tuzla, and the Faculty of Technology.

I would like to thank the Faculty of Technology of the University of Tuzla as my home institution, which nominated me for the award, and the Ministry of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton.

On December 20, 2022, I was elected to be a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ANUBiH) in the Department of Technical Sciences. On December 28 and 29, 2022, hybrid workshops and re-training were held at the University of Tuzla, Faculty of Technology, in the newly formed INTERBA Laboratory - Computer Center, as one of the INTERBA project outcomes and via the Zoom application. More information about that is available here.

In 2021, I was awarded the Federal Award for Science by the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the popularization and promotion of science and for the contribution to spreading knowledge about science through publication, presentation and promotion domestically and internationally. We participate in a bilateral project established within scientific and technological collaboration between Bosnia and Herzegovina (University of Tuzla, Faculty of Technology) and Slovenia (University of Maribor, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering). The title of this project is "Synthesis of evaporation systems using mathematical programming".

We participate in a bilateral project established within scientific and technological collaboration between Bosnia and Herzegovina (University of Tuzla, Faculty of Technology) and Austria (Graz University of Technology, Institute of Process and Particle Engineering). The title of this project is "Modeling and Simulation of Biorefinery Concepts in the Context of Water and Heat Integration".

As a representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a member of the Management Committee I participate in the COST Action CA18224 - Green Chemical Engineering Network towards upscaling sustainable processes.

The University of Tuzla participates as a partner in the Erasmus+ project "INTERnationalization at Home: Embedding Approaches and Structures to Foster Internationalization at Western BAlkans". This project has been funded with support from the European Commission.

The University of Tuzla participates as a partner in the CEEPUS network "Chemistry and Chemical Engineering".

I participated in the Connect2020 event and delivered the lecture entitled "Writing project proposals". This event was supported by the DAAD and held in Neum (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in August 22-29, 2020. It was a pleasure for me to share my experience with participants about writing project proposals and explain how to write project proposals. I was mentoring a group of students from different universities in this topic and they presented the results of our work at the Connect2020 event.
